Who is Durga ji:-
Durga Maa Shakti is the main goddess of Hindus who is also known by the names of Devi, Shakti and Parvati, Jagdamba and etc. She is the main deity of the Shakta sect who is compared to the Supreme Brahman. Durga is described as the primal power, the primeval nature, the virtuous yogamaya, the mother of intelligence and free from disorder. She is the protector and benefactor from the demons of darkness and ignorance. It is believed about her that she destroys the demonic forces that attack peace, prosperity and religion.
Durga is represented as a goddess riding on a lion. Durga Devi is endowed with eight arms, all of which have some or the other weapon. He killed an asura named Mahishasura. Mahishasur (= Mahisha + Asura = Asura like a buffalo) does it. In Hindu texts she is described as Durga, the wife of Shiva. The Jyotirlingas in which Goddess Durga is established are called Siddhapeeths. All the resolutions made there are fulfilled. The name Durga Devi of the mother was due to the killing of a great demon named Durgam.
Mother assumed the form of Shatakshi and after that Shakambhari Devi, who came to be known as Shakambhari Devi, killed Durgamasur. Due to which she became famous in the whole universe by the name of Durga Devi. There are many temples in Mother's country, somewhere Mahishasuramardini Shaktipeeth and somewhere Kamakhya Devi. This goddess is known as Mahakali in Kolkata and is worshiped as Shakambhari Devi in the ancient Shaktipeeth of Saharanpur.
In the Shakti sect of Hindus, Bhagwati Durga is considered to be the supreme and supreme deity of the world (Shakta sect considers God as a goddess).
